and it goes like this...
1. In 2005 the influential magazine Economist published a short article on CSR
(“The good company – a survey of corporate social responsibility”) that created
a big stir in the CSR community. It attracted immediate and strong reactions as
evidenced by letters sent to the magazine.
Write a half page reply to the Economist explaining your position (in support or
against the article’s argument). Your letter must be concise and clear so as to be
published in the ‘letters’ section of the Economist.
You can consult Milton Friedman’s article from 1970.
2. Watch the documentary on conflict diamonds by following the link below.
The film contains 9 parts – navigate from one to the next by using the box
on the right side of the screen “Related videos”.
Identify 3 aspects that resonate with the material we covered in the course
and write a short essay (2 pages). Think of the responsibilies of various actors,
obstacles and solutions to prevent reoccurence of such cases.

Use only materials available on the FLA and SAI websites.
4. The UN Norms have been controversial with John Ruggie being particularly
criticial to them. The Norms retain significant support in the NGO community.
Read the 3 reports Ruggie has produced and identify his main objections to the
Norms. Do you agree with him? If yes or not, why? (2 pages)
Ruggie’s reports available at: http://www.businesshumanrights.org/Documents/RuggieHRCreports
Consult a few more materials available on this website, if needed.
5. Consult company law and, if available, codes of corporate governance applicable
in your country of nationality. Identify and translate the main legal provision that
formulates general managerial duties. Do you think these formulations encourage,
discourage or are neutral towards business executives assuming responsibility for
corporate impacts (social and/or environmental impacts)? (1 page)
Ni är varmt välkomna med era synpunkter...
